El Teatro Fernán Gómez. Centro Cultural de la Villa acoge una nueva exposición dedicada al reconocido fotógrafo estadounidense Joel Meyerowitz, como parte de la programación oficial del festival PhotoEspaña 2025. La muestra, que ofrece una mirada única a la Europa de los años 60, fue presentada por la delegada del Área de Cultura, Turismo y Deporte del Ayuntamiento de Madrid, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, acompañada por María Santonja, directora del festival, y representantes del centro cultural.
A través de una cuidada selección de retratos, escenas callejeras, paisajes y fotografías tomadas desde el interior de su coche en movimiento, Meyerowitz revela la evolución de su lenguaje visual. La exposición pone de manifiesto una transición clave en su obra: del encuadre preciso y el “instante decisivo” hacia una fotografía más abierta, donde prima la complejidad de lo cotidiano y la riqueza del momento.
Con esta muestra, el autor —uno de los pioneros del uso del color en la fotografía documental— invita al espectador a redescubrir una Europa en plena transformación, con la sensibilidad y el humanismo que caracterizan su mirada.
The Fernán Gómez Theater. Centro Cultural de la Villa hosts a new exhibition dedicated to the renowned American photographer Joel Meyerowitz, as part of the official program of the PhotoEspaña 2025 festival. The exhibition, which offers a unique look at Europe in the 60s, was presented by the delegate of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Area of the Madrid City Council, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, accompanied by María Santonja, director of the festival, and representatives of the cultural center.
Through a careful selection of portraits, street scenes, landscapes and photographs taken from inside his moving car, Meyerowitz reveals the evolution of his visual language. The exhibition highlights a key transition in his work: from precise framing and the “decisive moment” towards a more open photography, where the complexity of everyday life and the richness of the moment prevail.
With this exhibition, the author—one of the pioneers of the use of color in documentary photography—invites the viewer to rediscover a Europe in full transformation, with the sensitivity and humanism that characterize his vision.
