Madrid.– El Teatro Pavón celebra este fin de semana uno de los actos más destacados de su centenario: la recuperación simbólica de la Copa Pavón, un legendario concurso flamenco que en 1925 y 1926 reunió a grandes voces de toda España. En aquella época, figuras como Manuel Vallejo y Manuel Centeno se alzaron con el galardón, marcando un hito en la historia del cante jondo. Hoy, casi un siglo después, el espíritu de aquella competencia vuelve a encenderse en el corazón de Madrid.
Apoyado por la Junta de Andalucía y con el asesoramiento artístico del cantaor Juan Valderrama, el evento prescinde esta vez del formato competitivo y apuesta por un homenaje a una figura indiscutible del flamenco contemporáneo: la cantaora catalana Mayte Martín. El domingo será ella quien clausure este renacimiento simbólico de la Copa Pavón, acompañada por el guitarrista José Gálvez.Nacida en Barcelona en 1965, Mayte Martín es una artista que ha sabido conjugar tradición y modernidad en su trayectoria.Su cante, sereno y preciosista, escapa a etiquetas fáciles. En cada interpretación, Martín propone una lectura íntima y comprometida del arte flamenco, defendiendo la emoción por encima del virtuosismo, el alma antes que la forma. Su actuación en el Pavón no será solo un recital, sino una declaración de amor a un género que ella ha contribuido a ensanchar con delicadeza y autenticidad.
Madrid.– The Pavón Theater celebrates this weekend one of the most notable events of its centenary: the symbolic recovery of the Pavón Cup, a legendary flamenco competition that in 1925 and 1926 brought together great voices from all over Spain.
