La Sala Alcalá 31 acoge Fronteras y territorios, una exposición que recorre la trayectoria de la artista Sonia Navarro a través de un lenguaje propio tejido con hilos de memoria, identidad y resistencia. La muestra reúne obras creadas con materiales como esparto, caucho, lana y elementos reciclados, materiales que, en su origen, estaban destinados al desecho, pero que cobran una nueva vida bajo la mirada y las manos de la artista.

Navarro entrelaza tradición y contemporaneidad mediante técnicas artesanales y procesos manuales que remiten a los oficios de antaño. Sus obras, muchas de ellas elaboradas junto a grupos de mujeres, beben de saberes campesinos y nativos: teñido natural, tejido de esparto, hilado de lana… Cada pieza es un acto de recuperación y transformación, donde lo cotidiano se convierte en arte, lo invisible en protagonista.

A través de telas, patrones, costuras e hilos, Sonia Navarro construye un universo simbólico con una poderosa dimensión visual y táctil. Su trabajo no sólo reivindica sus orígenes y la artesanía como patrimonio cultural, sino también el feminismo, la autonomía de la mujer y la fuerza colectiva de las manos que crean.

The exhibition brings together works created with materials such as esparto grass, rubber, wool and recycled elements, materials that, originally, were destined for waste, but that take on a new life under the gaze and hands of the artist.

Navarro interweaves tradition and contemporaneity through artisanal techniques and manual processes that refer to the crafts of yesteryear. Her works, many of them made together with groups of women, draw on peasant and native knowledge: natural dyeing, esparto grass weaving, wool spinning… Each piece is an act of recovery and transformation, where the everyday becomes art, the invisible the protagonist.

Through fabrics, patterns, seams and threads, Sonia Navarro builds a symbolic universe with a powerful visual and tactile dimension. Her work not only vindicates its origins and craftsmanship as cultural heritage, but also feminism, the autonomy of women and the collective strength of the hands that create.
